Classroom:1) Negotiating our role within the classroom, focused on while still maintaining interest from students and engaging them in the lessonsCreating an accessible curriculum that met both educational standards and our innovative approaches to teaching
2) Working within a group to create a dynamic such that each member of the teaching cohort could bring forward their strengths to create a holistic approach to teaching |
Community Outreach:1) Having resources to begin and maintain a garden (money for soil, tools, lumber to build raised beds)
2) Working within the context of the city and having activities surrounding the lot that do not foster a supportive environment for sustainable growth (illegal activities, decay of nearby buildings, etc.). 3) Negotiating Site for the Urban Garden (water access. sunlight, soil quality and possibility of contamination) |
